The 5 Hidden Reasons You Can’t Let Go

Let’s look at the hidden reasons why you can’t let something go – the resistance. Because if decluttering were easy, you’d already be living in that streamlined, peaceful, aligned reality.

But you’re not.

So let’s name the five biggest reasons people don’t let go, whether it’s thoughts, emotions, or actual objects. And I want you to listen closely and feel which one hits.

The reason I am picking these 5 reasons out of hundreds is because of my 30 years of working with clients, watching people lives, and understanding how human psychology and energetics works. I am able to summarize all the patterns into 5 most common ones. This makes it easier to recognize yourself in one of them – instead of going through all the complexity it simplifies it for you and showcases the areas you need to pay attention to.

This isn’t about shame, it’s about clarity.


1. It justifies your identity.

Sometimes, we hold on because it reinforces the story we’ve been telling ourselves.

That belief you can’t release? It “proves” you’re not enough which secretly lets you off the hook from going after more!

That emotional pattern of “I’m always overwhelmed”? It keeps you in familiar chaos — because peace would mean facing the unknown.

That material thing you’ve never used but won’t toss? It reminds you of who you used to be… and lets you avoid who you’re becoming.

Maybe it keeps you hoping that some day you will be that person who needs it – but in reality it just keeps you stuck in the past.

So you wait. And the clutter grows.

This is the clutter loop. And it’s designed to keep you stuck. It’s the clutter saying “maintain me, maintain me, feed me energy”, and you are listening to it and doing it’s bidding.

Your nervous system might equate letting go with being unsafe. But here’s the truth:
⚡ Letting go doesn’t create chaos. It reveals clarity.
⚡ It doesn’t create emptiness, doesn’t leave a void. It creates a vacuum for the new.

AND it speeds up manifestation of what you’ve been intending on – because you’ve made the room for it!

Protecting your clutter comes from not fully claiming your inner sovereignty, following external expectation or fearing not fitting in – either way, creating an inner child experience that is not fully sovereign.

How to Declutter Like a Pro

Okay, now that you understand why it’s hard to let go, let’s talk about how to actually do it.

And no, this isn’t about tackling your whole life in one weekend. We’re not doing a spiritual version of “extreme home makeover.”

We’re doing it the aligned way, the conscious way, so you can clear clutter at the root, not just rearrange it.

Ready?

3-part Soul Declutter Practice

Here’s your 3-part Soul Declutter Practice — mental, emotional, and physical. (Solar Council tends to arrange everything in 3s for you because it’s the most anchored pattern for human mind).


Step 1: Identify the 3 layers of clutter

Pick one from each category:

  • A mental pattern
  • An emotional loop
  • A physical/material pile

Examples:
🧠 Mental: judging yourself constantly, focusing on what didn’t work, calling yourself names.
💔 Emotional: worrying about your health, expecting the worst, feeling jealous or behind.
🧹 Physical: messy desk, overstuffed closet, random junk drawer filled with twist ties and old batteries.

This step is about awareness. Not fixing. Just seeing.

And then ask: “What is this clutter really about?”


Step 2: Discover the belief underneath

This is the most important part. This is where your Soul speaks. Every form of clutter — mental, emotional, physical — is anchored by a belief.

Examples:

  • Mental:
    • “I have to be perfect or I’m not lovable.”
  • Emotional:
    • “If I relax, I’ll get hurt”
    •  “I’m not safe as I am”
    • “I must stay hypervigilant to avoid disappointment or shocking surprise”
  • Physical:
    • “If I let this go, I’ll regret it or won’t have enough”
    •  “What if I am missing something?! Let me keep everything just in case.”

Write it out in one clear sentence for each right now: mental, emotional, and physical areas. Don’t overthink it, go with your gut, you can refine it latter. Then ask: “What is my Lower Self protecting by holding onto this?”

You’ll start to see the real reason you’ve kept this clutter around, that your Lower Self was getting something from the clutter staying in place.

It wasn’t random, its specific to you, it’s like an armor you had – but now that you’re choosing alignment, you don’t need protection based on fear.


Step 3: Create your custom decluttering sequence

This will take a bit more time to literally line up for yourself, but this is how you bring into action the understand you’ve gathered from the previous two steps. Now that you’ve got the clutter and the belief behind it — let’s map a Soul-aligned path forward. Here’s how:

Mental Declutter Sequence

Problem: Harsh self-judgment, obsessive thoughts, negative focus.

💡 Steps:

  1. Choose a new, loving message for yourself (short + powerful, like “I am safe in my imperfection” – something that counterweights the negative pattern).
  2. Notice when the old pattern kicks in – identify your trigger (like “Every time I walk into this room, I think…” or “Every time I see this person…” or “Every morning when I wake up, I think…”)
  3. Interrupt it immediately with your new message.
  4. Add emotion to it – feel the new belief, slow down into the Now and experience your new positive sentence in your body.
  5. Repeat until the new signal becomes your norm. What will happen if you do it this way is that every time you notice the trigger – you redirect it, you interrupt it with a positive message. At first this process takes a few minutes, but as it becomes habitual, its becomes like a file that your body can pull out on demand and redirect in a few seconds (this comes with practice).

Emotional Declutter Sequence

Problem: Worry, envy, doom-expectation
💡 Steps:

  1. Identify what true Soul safety feels like for you—maybe it’s “Gold light in my Vertical Tube” or “I am supported by Source” or “My angels and guides are always with me”.
  2. Use this as your emotional short-code so its an experience you are familiar with and can quickly return to.
  3. When the emotion hits, pause within 3 seconds. Say or imagine your short-code, feel it in your body.
  4. Breathe into it until you feel a shift in your body. This is about rewiring your nervous system to stop looping fear and start looping safety. The more you do it, the more habitual this process becomes, and you begin to embody your Soul Safety code consistently.

Physical Declutter Sequence

Problem: Stuff everywhere, can’t decide what to keep, something stuffed out of sight
💡 Steps:

  1. Ask: “What fear is keeping this in my house?” Then assign a short-code of Abundance, like “I have enough. The Universe provides.”
  2. Choose one area: your closet, your desk, a drawer.
  3. Prepare 3 piles/boxes: Donate, Toss, Relocate.
  4. Systematically go through items and place them in one of the 3.
  5. Complete the action—don’t stop at sorting. Finish the cycle:
    • Put the toss bag in the garbage.
    • Put the donate box in your car.
    • Actually relocate what you’re keeping.

You are not just moving clutter around. You are clearing space for the next version of you. You are SPEEDING UP your manifestation! This is how you step into your future faster.

If you keep asking, “Why can’t I manifest the thing I want so badly?” or “Why is it taking so long?” — that’s because your field is still full. There is no space for something new to enter. Physical stuff actually holds energy thus by removing it you make more space for manifestation to enter your life.

This process clears the space so your desires can actually land.

Every small declutter is your Quantum signal to the Universe that says: “I’m no longer tied to my past. I’m ready, that thing I ordered – it can now come in”.

And the Universe responds: “Ok, we’ll just speed up that order then because here is the space for it”.

That’s why we want to do this. This isn’t just about clearing your house, its about clearing your frequency so you have room to manifest with.

Now we’ll talk about the sneaky saboteurs that might try to pull you back into the old ways, and how to stay ahead of them.

Sneaky Declutter Saboteurs

Alright… now that you’re on a roll, let’s talk about what might try to pull you off track.

Because clutter—whether energetic or physical—has gravity.
And once you start disrupting it, it often fights to stay.
This is where your Lower Self gets crafty 😉

So here are some of the most common saboteurs that I witnessed over the years in my clients that need to be named so they don’t hold power over you anymore. These saboteurs show up once you start decluttering, so let’s look at what they are and what to do about them.


 

💭 Mental Saboteurs

These usually show up as overthinking, rigidity, or sneaky little justifications.

  1. “But this belief feels true!”

You’re not questioning it but defending it.

You don’t want to defend beliefs that might be familiar but don’t align with who you are anymore. Most people defend what they believe because it “feels right” – but it only feels right because it is familiar, not because its aligned with your Soul. This is how you stay stuck inside the illusion of “rightness” which stops manifestation from happening, stops your future.

Just because a belief feels true doesn’t mean it’s aligned with your Soul.
Truth is what expands you – not what limits you. A belief can feel true simply because you are used to it.

  1. “I’m not making fast enough progress.”

Here comes the perfectionist voice.
It wants you to quit unless you can have massive, instant, total transformation.

You end up putting things for later. It’s a self-fulfilling prophecy – because you want it all at once, nothing happens – that’s your clutter fighting for its existence (and its winning!) – it wants you to quit unless you can create a massive transformation all at once.

Progress is Quantum, not linear. Every micro-win is part of your energetic reprogramming. Celebrate the shifts because this is how you start to change your programming.


 

💓 Emotional Saboteurs

These show up as unconscious emotional loops that try to pull you back into the familiar discomfort. Funny, right? Why would you want to return to discomfort? – Because its familiar! Familiar feels safer, it’s known – and humans tend to be terrified of the unknown if they are not aligned with their Soul energy (with God).

  1. Falling into old stories from your past

Suddenly, you’re replaying memories, recycling pain, or spiraling into self-doubt and before long nothing is moving. You decide to clean up something, focused on item number one, got stuck in some painful memory associated with it, and got stuck.

Solution: Stay in the Now. Your power is not in what happened—
It’s in what you choose to believe today. Feel the freedom of who you’re becoming. Ask yourself “By keeping this, am I amplifying my power and the new me or not?” – and if not, its got to go.

  1. Overwhelm and freeze response

You feel like you need to do everything, and so you do… nothing.

This is because there is so much “occupied space” that there is no room to decide. Its like RAM on your computer freezing up if you’re running too many programs simultaneously.

The trick here is that your overwhelm is not the truth of your existence —it’s a signal that you’re not being linear enough. If you’re in overwhelm, you need to focus on specifics, out of generalities.
Focus on one drawer. One belief. One emotion. Then take the next step. Micro, micro, micro – the smaller you can get it, the more progress you’ve going to make.


 

🧹 Physical Saboteurs

These are the sneaky behaviors that keep your space looking like it’s improving… when it’s actually just reshuffling the clutter. I bet many of you recognize yourself in that one! 😊 putting the stuff out of the way makes you feel like you did something because you cant see it anymore, but nothing changed energetically.

Universe doesn’t care where you put your things – it’s listening for your Frequency.

It doesn’t care if you moved the item from one room to another or can’t see it anymore – the frequency of that item is still there, broadcasting out and blocking your manifestation.

  1. Decluttering for a “someday” version of you

You’re keeping things “just in case” future-you needs them.
That version doesn’t exist. Only present-you does.

Ask: “Does this reflect who I am now? Who I am becoming as the most empowered version of me?” If not – let it go.

  1. Relocating instead of releasing

You put everything into the “relocate” pile and feel productive — but really, you just moved the mess to a new spot.

Moving clutter isn’t releasing clutter.
Your future doesn’t live in a storage box – it lives in spaciousness. Everything can’t stay!


 

The key to moving through these saboteurs with clarity and intention, not willpower.

Instead, think of it like this: “I intend my future to come. I know what I want to manifest. I know how I envision myself”.

So when you’re decluttering your mental, emotional, and material life, you are looking from the view of “Does it match the next phase of me I am becoming?”

Because when we “think reasonably”, its often not actually reasonable, its based on some past experience and in reality its your clutter keeping itself.

The intention you want to have: “I am not here to protect my past. I am here to prepare space for my future.”

Every form of resistance is a form of protection. But safety built on fear is still a prison.
You’re choosing Soul-led safety now.

You don’t need to declutter your entire house or rewire every thought today.
Start with one thing. But start! And be consistent with the process.
Every micro-step sends a Quantum signal that you’re ready for more – so that Universe can give you more. That’s how you finally get over “Why isn’t it happening?! I am doing everything right but nothing it manifesting!”
